THE MEDICINE WHEEL
- The Medicine Wheel is the ancient spiritual symbol for the totality of all life.
- It is a map of understanding our lives, from birth through to death, at each stage of growth and development.
- It gives us a holistic method of balancing the four parts of our lives: body, mind, heart and spirit.
- It represents the seasons and the path of the sun around the earth.
- It can be interpreted in different ways according to our geographical location, the energies of the land on which we live, the ancestral memories within our culture and our own personal soul seeking.
- You can discover your personal animal allies by placing them in each direction of your wheel or the wheel of your culture.
- You can create your own Sacred Circle (temple, or ceremonial space) by simply honouring the eight directions with stones or symbolic objects.
- From this sacred space, it teaches us how to honour and balance each of the elemental worlds within and without.
- Above all, it is a simple method of creating dialogue with the Sacred Spirit on a daily basis to find peace and balance in our lives.

THE STORY OF CREATION:
In the beginning was the Void, the Womb of Creation, the Sacred Receptive Creative principle. She is the Zero, the Circle. Her name is Wakan. Great Mystery.

Then the movement of Wakan gives birth to the first spark of life: Grandfather Spirit, the Sacred Spiral. He is the active conceptive principle. His name is Sskwan. Grandfather Spirit.

The Sacred Love of Great Mystery and Grandfather Spirit creates the Divine Union which births all Life in the Universe. WAKAN TANKA – Great Spirit
Our Spiritual Journey is a never-ending spiral of consciousness and expansion - our perceptions can shift and change as we grow and mature in our spiritual selves. Drumming the 20 count around the wheel of life is much more than learning to drum from 1 - 20: once you begin to grasp the subtle magical principles and the spiritual alchemy of changing consciousness at will, you begin to realize your own unique soul potential. Using the 20 count makes it possible to communicate with this divine awareness. The journey around the Medicine Wheel is this journey of the 20 count, each direction being represented by a number and a rhythm.

To fully experience the energy of the first five rhythms of the 20 Count Medicine Wheel, practice your drumming with Drum Spirit Medicine Journey. This is the first of four albums illustrating the 20 count with rhythms and simple chants. This first album works with the four cardinal directions and the centre soul energy.
