ANCIENT MAYAN 20 COUNT

The Medicine Wheel is the shape of the Zero. The Zero is the Spirit of all Creation. In the beginning was WahKahn. She is the Creatress Mother and the Great Zero, the womb that births all of existence. Within instantaneous being was born the SsKwan. He is the Creator Father and is the Dividing of the Zero. Creation, the Zero, is perfectly balanced. The Zero is Female and Male and has designed and Birthed all of Life. The Zero is WahKahn and SsKwan, Sacred Mother and Sacred Father. The Sacred Zero gives Birth to all Numbers, and all Numbers are everything born to life.
“Surely the voice of WahKahn and SsKwan is Mathematics. No voice in Time is greater than the voice of Energy and Substance, and the language of Time and Substance is Mathematics”
The Mayan twenty count is derived from the product of number four, representing Measure, and five, the number of the primary matrix structure (consisting of the centre and four cardinal points).
NUMBER 1 – Fire/Spirit World . NUMBER 2 – Earth//Mineral World .. NUMBER 3 – Water/Plant World …
NUMBER 4 – Air/Animal World ….
NUMBER 5 – Soul/Human World ___

Practice all 20 rhythms with Jana's CD: DRUMMING THE 20 COUNT. This is the traditional Native American Medicine Wheel, in which we begin with fire in the east, moving across to earth in the west, fire in the south and air in the north.
For an in-depth experience of the first 5 beats (10 minutes per track) then practice with DRUM SPIRIT MEDICINE JOURNEY. I have based this wheel on the Druidic wheel of Britain, with air in the east, then moving clockwise around the wheel. I am not therefore following a chronological order of the numbers, rather interpreting the energies of our British wheel with the 20 count.
Come and join our weekly drumming circle in Glastonbury on Wednesday evenings, 7.30-9pm where we practice the 20 count on a regular basis.
ABOUT LIGHT: UNDERSTANDING THE 5-BEAT
Once you have stepped into your power as a channel for light, for Spirit - with the sacred five - then it is up to you to send that light out into the world. We need, first of all, to store up this subtle spiritual light – rather like a solar panel – by being very receptive to the energies that flow around and between us. We all find it hard being here, we’re all challenged by something – but it is that special ‘something’ that we all have, that unique facet of soul energy that makes us human. To be a human ‘being’ we must truly learn to appreciate every moment, and learn how to stay ‘present’. Give yourself a present or gift of consciousness, a big cosmic torch of light to shine in the darkness of not-knowing. Let’s not call it ‘ignorance’, there’s so much judgment in that word. Nobody wants to be in the dark without a light – that’s not human nature, we want to do more than survive, we want to be aware of what’s happening to us and why…
In a way, it’s like changing gear – into fifth gear, so that you don’t consume so much fuel. When you get to that easy place of recognition in yourself of knowing that you are the only person running your life, everything that you experience then becomes tempered with a ‘fifth gear’ energy-design. You should be cruising through your life. But life isn’t like that. We never know why we encounter blocks, pain, depression, fear, grief…. They all make us so miserable and so HUMAN. We are such an imperfect species, we seem to enjoy destroying our paradise-home in the pursuit of personal gain and ephemeral pleasures. As if love needed to be bought. Ah ha, there’s the key about the five again. We all have that key in our pockets… it’s the awareness of the light within, the power-from-within. We so often feel so small, so helpless, so disempowered and we’ll do anything, everything to numb that feeling. But we have the key. WE are the key. We are all unique, powerful individuals with our own beautiful colours to add to the tapestry of creation. That’s the beauty of the Medicine Wheel – it teaches us to live in a circle of hope, love and understanding.
The sacred circle – it has a centre. Are YOU standing in a place of empowered awareness? We THINK we know the answers, but we so often mistake mental governance as reality. HOW do we become empowered? It’s not through political correctness – we have become a product of our own fervour… no, it is in a perception of global human struggle. Everyone struggles. Why? Why can’t we be in the ‘age of innocence’ again? In fact, we have never left it. We are simply being bombarded by media-produced ‘white noise’. We can cut through that white noise by just being ourselves. By stepping into our power as individuals. Not as ‘victims of the State’, but as self-aware being of light. The human being that we are here to be in all our potential.
LET’S BEGIN! Enjoy the five-beat as the key to unlocking your potential, making your life simpler and more organic. We are the sacred humans, we carry the fire of Spirit within us. Our role is to channel our awareness, through art, healing and drumming. Let’s get going with our drumming circles……beginning with FIVE!
